Course Description

Pattern Making (Part 1)

15 Sessions (60 Hours).
1. Body measurements, and sizing.
2. Drafting Blocks: Constructing pattern blocks for personal sizes and shapes. Learning the relationship between using the proper block and style.
3. Style pattern adaptation: Developing your own designs on the correct basic block, and preparing them with all the necessary details for assembly.
4. Lay Planning & Fabric Cutting: Producing the lay plan of your pattern pieces on fabric.
5. Assembly: Practicing basic sewing and assembly/make-up with instructions in simple, easy to understand rich animations.
6. Construction of Basic Bodice and Basic sleeve.
7. Dart manipulation.
8. Shirt design (basic shirt).
9. Construction of basic skirt (A-line) and circle skirt.
10. Construction of basic trousers.
11. Implement personal creative designs of multiple skirts and pants.

1. Revision of pattern basic construction concepts and body measurement techniques.
2. Intro to origami concepts and artistic design principles.
3. Pattern construction of Origamis.
4. Cutting and sewing techniques of origami.
5. Introduction to corset construction and design concepts.
6. Pattern cutting and contouring of corset.
7. Blazer construction techniques and pattern concepts.
8. Pattern construction of 2-piece sleeve.
9. Pattern construction of capes and hoodies.
10. Pattern construction of jumpsuit (basic and advanced).
11. Final Advanced Project.

1. Revision of pattern basic construction concepts and body measurement techniques.
2. Intro to haute couture concepts and artistic design principles.
3. Introduction to corset construction and design concepts.
4. Pattern construction of corsets (simple and advanced).
5. Cutting and sewing techniques of multiple corsets.
6. Introduction to A-line skirt construction and design concepts.
7. Pattern construction of A-line skirt (simple and advanced).
8. Cutting and sewing techniques of A-line skirts.
9. Introduction to circle skirt construction and design concepts.
10. Pattern construction of circle skirt (simple and advanced).
11. Cutting and sewing techniques of circle skirts.
12. Introduction and implementation of bridal design concepts and pattern techniques.
13. Final couture/ bridal advanced project.
